The Big Guy… No, The Other Big Guy

I was just invited to perform at The Economist’s World in 2011 Conference. December 3.
Oh, gosh, who’s the keynote speaker?
Just some guy named William Jefferson Clinton.

Showbiz The Other Night

I drop a little knowledge during this segment:

… and here’s what hit the cutting room floor.

A new video?

So… always striving to get a good stand-up video… need decent lighting, decent crowd, decent choice from 90+ mins of material, decent decency. Here’s a set from this past weekend.
Better than previous videos (or previous videos)? Worse? Definitely less milquetoast material choices (I tend to post videos that I think have broad appeal – deluding myself that they’ll get me booked somewhere – & keep the passionate material confined to live performance, but that’s dumb, right?) Could be trimmed? How? Would you love me if I rubbed my head on your knee?

Kanye & GWB, Sitting In A Tree…

What they left out of my Showbiz Tonight segment about George W. Bush & Kanye West (video here):

W said being called racist was the most devastating moment of his Presidency. Not Katrina, not Iraq, not the financial collapse. Heck, I can think of at least 911 more devastating moments…

Why was W even aware of what Kanye said? Obviously George W. Bush does care about one black person.

He’s obviously got a thing for black musicians with vision problems. Kanye wears those funky glasses and Bush did wave at Stevie Wonder.

At least W is back in the news. I’ve missed him like you might miss a bad marriage or a tape worm.

It was kinda rude of Kanye to interrupt Bush’s re-emergence. He said, “Imma let you finish, but Ronald Reagan had the best supply-side Republican presidency ever!”

For a moment, seemed like Kanye was able to “take down” Bush, this after he took down Taylor Swift. Can’t we get him to take down some more relevant targets? Like Ahmadinejad or Goldman Sachs or even saturated fat.

Swift’s career skyrocketed after Kanye’s criticism. So on the plus side, this might be just the thing to put W over the top, make him kinda-sorta popular again.

Swift released two hit albums, so could Bush. She had “Innocent,” he could have “Misunderestimated.” She had “Speak Now,” and he could have “Shhh… Don’t Speak.”

Come to think of it… Taylor Swift… George W. Bush… OMG, Kanye West doesn’t care about crossover country stars!

Seems Bush got Kanye to apologize. Awesome accomplishment. Catching Bin Laden? Not so much…

I’m actually surprised Bush engaged Kanye. I thought he didn’t negotiate with terrorists… and Kanye’s been terrorizing our ears for a long, long time.

Glad it’s resolved, otherwise Obama might’ve had to have a beer summit. Though neither drinks beer…. Hmmm. Ooh, it could be like Thunderdome. Two men enter and, if we’re all lucky, no men leave.

So…

First morning thoughts on the election…

As the ebb and flow of politics takes us closer to the jagged rocks, should I keep screaming “We’re gonna crash!” or just relax for the ride?
If the orchestra plays louder, would that drown out the Sirens’ song?

Upon defeat:
– Democrats reflect, reexamine and try to change… they make half time adjustments.
– Republics just get more determined they’re right and keep pounding the ball.

More soon…
